Brain scanning project of teenagers with autism spectrum conditions

We are currently recruiting volunteers to take part in a study investigating young people with autism spectrum conditions.

Specifically we are looking for families with two teenagers aged 12-18 where one has a diagnosis of autism or Asperger Syndrome and the other has no diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Both young people will initially take part in some assessments, and parents will be asked to complete an interview about their child with ASD. Then on a separate occasion you may be invited to attend the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences unit in Cambridge where both young people will have an MRI brain scan (which is a safe technique that does not use any radiation or X-rays) and take part in some further testing. Parents of participants will also be asked to complete a number of questionnaires about their children. Compensation for time and travel will be provided, and both teenagers will receive a picture of their brain.

If you would like to participate in this study or you would like further information please contact Rosie Holt on 01223 746136 or by email on rh465@cam.ac.uk
